In “saddle bronc riding,” a bucking bronc is saddled. Once the cowboy or cowgirl has mounted and given a signal, the ramp to the arena is opened.

The horse bucks, bucking wildly, and the rider can only hold the saddle reins with one hand. If they touch the horse with the other hand, they lose points. As in bull riding, the cowboy or cowgirl must remain in the saddle for at least eight seconds. But it's not just about time: the rider gets extra points if the horse jumps really hard.
